For those that can't commit to a full weekend, have only been riding downhill for a short time, or want to try out downhill mountain biking, our one-day Women's Downhill FUNdamentals Workshop at Whiteface Mountain is a great way to get started.
This workshop covers the fundamental downhill skills. We will work on body position, braking, descending fundamentals, bike and body separation and basic cornering.
Where: Whiteface Mountain Bike Park, Wilmington NY (Lake Placid area)
When: Sunday, August 7
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This is a great opportunity to build up your confidence on the lower trails of Whiteface Mountain. We will work in the base area on skills and then take the shuttle bus to the trails to get some real time riding and feedback.
Women of all ages are welcome.
Full-face helmet and suspension bike with a minimum of 5-6" of front and rear travel. 8" travel and downhill bikes highly recommended.
We recommend that your wear knee and elbow pads, body armor, gloves and goggles too.
The $150 includes instruction by certified coaches and your full day lift/shuttle ticket. Bikes are not included in this workshop. If you need a rental bike, you can reserve one from Whiteface Mountain Bike Park (www.downhillmike.com).
