Ready, Set, and Ride! - Week 3

Dirt Rock n Root Training and Tenafly Bicycle Workshop present the Ready Set Ride Mountain Bike Workshops.

This is a fun way to learn the fundamentals of mountain biking for those that can't commit to a full day or weekend of training.  his series of three 2-hour group lessons starts off reviewing fundamental bike position and moves on to cover topics such as braking, shifting, turning, descending and climbing. This is great for parents and kids alike to gain more confidence and have more fun riding their mountain bikes on trails.

Each week builds on the previous week’s skills. Each lesson will start with a skills session, followed by on the bike trail riding to practice these skills. Ready Set Ride funs from 5-7 on three consecutive Tuesday evenings:  5/3, 5/1- and 5/17.  

May 17 is Week 13of a 3 week series, must attend all three sessions.

  • 5/3: Week one focuses on basic body position, braking and shifting
  • 5/10: Week two focuses on to cornering skills, climbing and descending techniques
  • 5/17: Week three will wrap up with learning how to get over small obstacles and lifting the front wheel to clear those obstacles

When:  May 3, 10 and 17 from 5 - 7 p.m.

Who:  Cyclists age 15 and up

This is not a workshop to teach them how to ride, but to teach them the fundamentals that will help them enjoy riding more. Participants need to already be able to ride a bike.

Must have a mountain bike in good working condition, wear a helmet.  Flat pedals and knee pads recommended. Demo bikes available at additional cost through Tenafly Bicycle Workshop.
