DRRT and TBW May Ride Workshop

Join Kathi Krause of Dirt Rock n Root Training and Tenafly Bicycle Workshop for a full-day mountain bike ride workshop. This is a great workshop for teens and adults alike to learn how to have more fun mountain biking. Experience some of our local trail systems while learning skills to boost your confidence on your mountain bike.

Although geared towards beginner and intermediate riders, anyone can benefit from learning the fundamental mountain bike skills:  basic body position, breaking, cornering, climbing, descending, getting over small obstacles, and more.  At each workshop, the morning will be dedicated to working on core skills and getting more comfortable on the bike. After a lunch break, we’ll take it to the trails for real time experience and feedback. 

A mountain bike in good working condition required.  Helmet required.  Flat pedals, elbow and knee pads recommended. Demo bikes available from Tenafly Bicycle Workshop at an additional cost. 

When:  Sunday, May 22
Time:  10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Where:  Cunningham Park, Queens, NY
Who: Men and Women age 15 and higher

Ready, Set, and Ride! - Week 3

Dirt Rock n Root Training and Tenafly Bicycle Workshop present the Ready Set Ride Mountain Bike Workshops.

This is a fun way to learn the fundamentals of mountain biking for those that can't commit to a full day or weekend of training.  his series of three 2-hour group lessons starts off reviewing fundamental bike position and moves on to cover topics such as braking, shifting, turning, descending and climbing. This is great for parents and kids alike to gain more confidence and have more fun riding their mountain bikes on trails.

Each week builds on the previous week’s skills. Each lesson will start with a skills session, followed by on the bike trail riding to practice these skills. Ready Set Ride funs from 5-7 on three consecutive Tuesday evenings:  5/3, 5/1- and 5/17.  

May 17 is Week 13of a 3 week series, must attend all three sessions.

  • 5/3: Week one focuses on basic body position, braking and shifting
  • 5/10: Week two focuses on to cornering skills, climbing and descending techniques
  • 5/17: Week three will wrap up with learning how to get over small obstacles and lifting the front wheel to clear those obstacles

When:  May 3, 10 and 17 from 5 - 7 p.m.
Where:   Demarest, NJ
Who:  Cyclists age 15 and up
Cost:  $225 for the series

This is not a workshop to teach them how to ride, but to teach them the fundamentals that will help them enjoy riding more. Participants need to already be able to ride a bike.

Dirt Rock n Root Training and Tenafly Bicycle Workshop present the Kids FUNdamentals Workshop!

Our Kids MTB FUNdamentals workshop is a fun way for kids to get down and dirty with mountain biking in a safe and fun environment. During this 3-hour workshop, kids will learn proper body position, braking, shifting, turning, how to get over small obstacles and more.  We’ll start in the open areas to learn the basic skills and then take it to the trails for real-time experience and feedback.

When:  April 16, 2016

Who:  Boys and girls ages 8-13

Ready, Set, Ride - Mountain Bike Skills Clinic - 9/7/14

Learn mountain bike fundamental skills to improve your confidence, help you ride faster and more efficiently and have more fun riding!  Control your bike, don’t let your bike control you!

Join Dirt Rock n Root Training at Dark Horse Cycles and Stewart State Forest on September 7 from 10 am to 4 pm for a day of Mountain Bike Skills Training and Riding.

This is a co-ed camp open to riders from beginner to intermediate level.  We will start the morning with fundamental skills at Dark Horse Cycles and head out to the trails of Stewart State Forest after lunch. 

A great opportunity for you to get more comfortable on your bike!

Plattekill Bike Park Dog Dayze of Summer Downhill Camp

Getting comfortable at Bike Parks? .......  Are you brave enough to take on the gnar? ...... ready to build your confidence?  “Take it to the next level” and get away from the heat of the summer in our 1-day Dog Dayze of Summer Downhill Camp at Plattekill Bike Park in Roxbury, NY!

In this camp, we'll review the fundamental skills, work on handling natural drops and other natural terrain (shale surfing!), work on vision and line choice, steep descents and chutes, and other skills to help you gain confidence on natural terrain.

This is a co-ed camp and open to men and women riders ages 15 and up.  All abilities welcome.

Creek Kids Summer Downhilll Camp - Week 1

New this year is our Mountain Creek Bike Park Kids Camp.  This camp will take place every Tuesday in July from 4-7 p.m.  Each week will focus on a different skill, and we'll put it all together at the end of the 5-week session.  Creek Kids Camps are open to kids from 9-14 years old.  A fun way to learn the ins and outs of downhill mountain biking with other kids!

Dates:  July 1*, 8, 15, 22, 29

*July 1 is core fundamentals and is required for attendance in any other kids sessions.
